These come from a family trip up to Mt. Evans in Colorado, to which I was lucky to bring my camera. The trees and fallen trunks and roots that feature prominently in my photos are bristlecone pine trees, a really cool and relatively rare species of tree that I saw for the first time here. They can grow to be extremely old, and often develop a weatherbeaten, windblown look where the bark and leaves seem to have been stripped from the tree.
