Yet more photos from the drive between Claremont, California and Denver, Colorado, at the start of this summer we decided to make a detour to Zion National Park in Utah. Unfortunately, the majority of the park can only be reached by a shuttle (although I suppose this helps maintain the park's environment) and we didn't have time for the hour long round trip. However, you could see plenty of marvelous scenery from the parts of the park accessible by road. I think I was struck most by the contrast between the bright red-orange cliffs and the areas and mountains of almost pure white. The bleached white rocks stood out like a sore thumb amongst the rest of the formations. The rocks were also textured with flowing, sweeping lines that seemed like brushstrokes. And there were some eye-catching flowers hiding amongst the vast landscapes.
