As part of a sinister plot to make its students feel homesick for its dorms before they have even finished moving in, Pomona College sends all of its new students to various really cool places around the state during the first week of orientation. I got to go to Yosemite National Park, where we hiked, explored caves, saw sights, and partook in other shenanigans. It was often easy to see the majestic and famous Half Dome, and I kind of envy the group that got to climb up to its top. That day, I frequently looked through my biggest zoom lens to see if I could find them at the peak, but I never did. Regardless, the place was beautiful and I can see why Ansel Adams enjoyed it so much, though I suspect it was not as overcrowded by tourists in his time as it is now. I also suspect the squirrels were not yet accustomed to humans, and so did not attack them for their food.
